Brothers

Here are two brothers. I love photographing children because they are honest and can sniff phony a mile away. They keep me honest in my work. I salute these two guys. Who knows where their journeys will take them? One thing is true, they will always be brothers.

Late Summer Molly

Sitting down by the Race on Fishers Island at sunset is one of life's great pleasures. Fishermen love the criss crossing currents, but I love the light. You can see the ferry come and go as the sun gets big and orange/red.

Molly looks wonderful here with a smear of ketchup on her cheek.

Socialite Jennifer Creel

I got this assignment to shoot for Quest magazine while I was on Fishers Island. Jennifer designs jewelry and sun glasses. I love the retro feel of this image but she is still sultry and earthy.

Baby Song

This was a precious shoot and a fleeting moment. The father plays a melody to his unborn child. She gave birth two weeks later. Everyone was healthy and happy.

Palm Beach Wedding

I was recently blessed to photograph a lovely couple in Palm Beach Florida. She had snow drops embroidered onto her gown. The church was gothic and had amazing stained glass. The reception was at The Everglades Club, which has a retractable roof over the dance floor. While the couple danced it opened up and all the sultry tropical air entered the space. Magic!

Palm Beach is really such a scene. The architecture, the gonzo cars and the beach all adds up to a show. Worth Avenue is fun just to see the shopping bags on tanned arms. I had a great time and look forward to the next time I get to work down here.

Book on Adoption

I have had the pleasure of working with Andrea Poe on a book proposal. We are hoping to create a coffee table book about adoption. Some interesting names have popped up like: Magic Johnson, Drew Carey and Senator Mary Landrieu. We hope to go into the homes famous folks who have adopted and also the not so famous. She is pitching the book in NY this week.

We have talked of traveling to Haiti and Guatemala to get a closer look at those country's policies on adoption.

Weezie so Peezie

I had the chance to photograph this little girl on Fishers Island. It is the kind of image you can't push for or even plan. It was a gift. The light, the gesture, the scene....like a John Singer Sargent portrait.

It makes me happy to be alive. To be a creator. To see beauty. To be a part of the world of things and people. I am grateful to be at this age of mastery. All the work and striving is now paying off effortlessly. Like a jazz musician, I am no longer running scales. I am playing music.
